Little Women is the story of four March girls – Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy. They are sitting in their living room, lamenting their poverty. The girls make a plan and decide to buy themselves a present in order to brighten their Christmas, but soon, they change their minds and decide to buy presents for their mother, Marmee instead of buying presents for themselves. When their mother comes home with a letter from Mr. March, the girls’ father, who is serving as a Union chaplain in the Civil War, it inspires the girls to bear their burdens more cheerfully and not to complain about their poverty. And so the story of a family goes on with all the regular ups and downs one would have in their life. This is an interesting story to read especially if you want to learn about the life in the earlier time period. This is a true story based on the author’s own life- Louisa May Alcott.
